Cookies Used & Your Controls

Royal Vegas Cookie Policy

The Royal Vegas Cookie Policy lists every cookie we set, what each one does, how long it lasts, and how to switch the optional ones on or off in one click from the cookie banner at any time.

What cookies are

A cookie is a small text file that a website stores in your browser. Cookies remember things like your login session, your preferred language, the games you've played most recently, and which marketing emails you've opened. Strictly necessary cookies are required for the site to work. Optional cookies can be switched off.

Strictly necessary cookies

These cookies keep you logged in, remember which step of the cashier you're on, hold your security tokens, and protect against cross-site request forgery. They cannot be turned off because the site won't work without them.

Examples include the session cookie, the CSRF token cookie, the cashier state cookie and the responsible-gaming control cookie that respects your active limits and self-exclusion status.

Performance and analytics cookies

These cookies tell us which pages are most visited, where players drop off in the registration flow, which games run smoothly on which devices, and where bugs are creeping in. The data is aggregated and anonymised before it leaves our servers.

You can switch them off from the cookie banner at any time, and the site will continue to work normally without them.

Functional cookies

Functional cookies remember your preferences across visits, such as your language, your theme, your last-used filters and which game tiles you've favourited. Switching them off means the site won't remember those preferences and you'll need to set them again on each visit.

Marketing cookies

Marketing cookies are set by us and by approved partners to measure the success of advertising campaigns and to deliver more relevant offers in your account. Switching them off won't reduce the amount of advertising you see overall, but it will make the ads less personalised.

Managing your cookie preferences

Click the cookie icon in the bottom-left corner of any page to reopen the preferences panel. You can switch performance, functional and marketing cookies on or off in one click, and your choice is saved across visits.

You can also clear cookies through your browser settings. Clearing cookies will log you out and reset your preferences.

Third parties

We use a small number of approved third-party services for analytics, fraud prevention and marketing measurement. Each is contracted to handle your data in line with our Privacy Policy and the data protection rules that apply.

The current list of third-party providers is available on request from privacy@royallvegas.net.

Managing cookies in major browsers

In Chrome, open Settings, then Privacy and security, then Cookies and other site data. You can block third-party cookies, clear cookies for specific sites, or set a rule that cookies are deleted automatically when you close the browser.

In Safari on macOS or iOS, open Preferences (or Settings on iPhone), then Privacy. Use Manage Website Data to clear cookies set by individual sites including ours.

In Firefox, open Settings, then Privacy and Security, and choose Strict for the toughest cookie controls. Edge follows a similar Settings, then Privacy, search, and services pattern.

Clearing cookies through your browser will log you out of Royal Vegas. To update marketing or analytics consent without losing your session, use the cookie icon in the bottom-left corner of any page instead.

Cookie categories at a glance

Strictly necessary cookies are always on. They handle login sessions, cashier state, security tokens and your active responsible-gaming controls. They expire when you log out or after 24 hours of inactivity.

Performance and analytics cookies live for up to 13 months. They tell us which pages are most used and where players hit friction. Data is aggregated before it leaves our servers.

Functional cookies typically live for 12 months. Marketing cookies live for up to 13 months. Both can be switched off in the cookie banner without affecting site functionality.

Sample cookies you will see in the browser

Strictly necessary: rv_session (login session, expires on logout), rv_csrf (security token, expires on logout), rv_cashier_state (cashier step, 24 hours), rv_rg_controls (active responsible-gaming controls, 12 months for limits and exclusion durations).

Performance and analytics: rv_analytics_id (anonymous visitor ID, 13 months), rv_session_quality (page load and error metrics, 30 days). Functional: rv_lang (language preference, 12 months), rv_theme (light or dark, 12 months), rv_favs (game favourites, 12 months).

Marketing: rv_campaign_attr (campaign attribution token, 90 days), rv_remarketing (audience membership for our advertising platforms, 13 months). The full and current list is available on request from privacy@royallvegas.net and is republished here whenever it changes.

Mobile app permissions versus browser cookies

If you play on our progressive web app installed to your home screen, the same cookies apply because the app uses your existing browser engine under the hood. If you play on a native mobile app from a future release, the equivalent settings live in the app's Settings then Privacy panel rather than in a cookie banner, and the categories map one-to-one with the cookie categories listed above.

Operating-system-level identifiers such as Apple's IDFA and Google's Advertising ID are honoured the same way. Turning off ad personalisation at the OS level disables our marketing-cookie equivalent automatically.

When we set cookies before consent

Before you make a choice in the cookie banner, only strictly necessary cookies are set. These cookies are needed for the site to display correctly, to remember your cookie-banner state itself, and to keep any login session secure. They are not used for analytics or marketing.

Analytics, functional and marketing cookies are only set after you click Accept All or after you opt them in individually inside the preferences panel. If you take no action and close the banner without choosing, only strictly necessary cookies remain set and the banner returns on your next visit. Reasonable estimates of repeat-visit rates suggest most players make a choice within the first two visits, so the banner does not become a persistent nuisance for regulars.

Do Not Track and global privacy signals

We honour the Global Privacy Control signal that some browsers and extensions send. When the signal is present in the request headers we receive, we treat it as an opt-out from marketing and analytics cookies for that browser regardless of the cookie banner choice you've made previously.

The older Do Not Track header is honoured in the same way for browsers that still send it. Both signals are device-specific, so if you switch browsers or devices you'll need to either send the signal again or set your preferences in our cookie banner on the new browser.

Local storage, session storage and similar technologies

Alongside cookies we use a small amount of local storage and session storage to hold things like the in-progress state of the cashier, your last-used game filters and your active responsible-gaming controls. These items live inside the browser rather than being sent back to our servers with each request, but they are governed by the same categories described above. Strictly necessary items cannot be turned off; functional items can be cleared from your browser at any time.

Pixel tags and similar invisible markers may appear in marketing emails to tell us whether the email was opened and which links were clicked. If you have switched off marketing cookies or unsubscribed from marketing emails, these markers are not used on your account.

Changes to this Cookie Policy

When the list of cookies, the categories or the retention periods change in a material way, the effective date at the top of this page is updated and a short summary of the change is posted in the account notifications area on first login after the change. Minor edits such as wording clarifications are made silently and reflected in the effective date alone.

If you would like a copy of an earlier version of this Cookie Policy, email privacy@royallvegas.net with the approximate date and we will return the relevant archived version inside five business days.
